inkle has confirmed a launch date for A Highland Tune, which is out on Nintendo Swap subsequent month.
Moira McKinnon has lived together with her mum in a small home on the sting of the Scottish Highlands for fifteen years. When she receives a letter from her Uncle Hamish urging her to return to the coast, she units out to achieve his lighthouse in time for the solstice.
The Scottish Highlands are dropped at life on this 2.5D side-scrolling journey, which the developer has created “with a mix of hand-drawn animation, impressionistic painted surroundings, and dynamic lighting/climate results.”
With music from composer Laurence Chapman and two multi-award-winning Scottish folks artists, Talisk and Fourth Moon, each peak has a narrative to inform and each valley echoes with music. You have to discover hills crisscrossed by routes, climbing peaks to orient your self and plan your subsequent steps – after which you’ll hop, slide and leap by way of the valleys in time with the music.
A Highland Tune will likely be launched digitally on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Swap worldwide on 5 December 2023.
